The Project

Education provides only general knowledge of environmental education, which is not sufficient for a true eco-conscious approach. Project-area is rich in natural and cultural values, traditional way of life harmonizes with the landscape, but the lifestyle of the population largely lacks environmental awareness.

General Objectives: awareness-raising by organizing and sharing of area-specific knowledge, development, testing and including in school curricula of interactive learning methods (local good practises, learning by doing) through cross-border cooperation, education networks and awareness-raising communication keeping in mind the horizontal goals.

The project focuses on the introduction of environmental education, filling this gap, creating a training material with area-specific knowledge and implementing a specific training program with a complex understanding of sustainability (society and environment, saving of raw materials, energy and water supply, sustainable products, community building).

Main elements: electronic curriculum and its adaptation to school curricula, 2 Sustainability Week, 6 Sustainability Days, 2 interactive exhibitions, e-learning website, target group-specific awareness-raising communication with online elements that support the acquisition of experience. The project elements are implemented in innovative ways.

Participants: HU-SK school children, experts, trainers. The pilot training program is integrated into the school curricula. Curriculum, methodology and databases are public.

New values: complex understanding of eco-consciousness, good practises (home, self-made in place of big and expensive systems, products), complex pilot training program, practice-oriented approach, learning by doing, special communication and a shared virtual knowledge centre.
